#14 A Happy Morning
Each week, God shows up larger than life. But this week, He brought some of His special servants with Him. After placing it on Shawn’s heart the previous week to have a cookout this weekend, and the generous responses from our East Cobb Presbyterian Church (ECPC) friends who left chips and other fabulous donations on our patio, the Lord also placed it on our daughter Moriah’s heart Wednesday to join us Saturday morning. She, Shawn, and our Atlanta Dream Center Church (ADCC) sister in Christ Asa cooked and supplied more than 50 burger & hot dog lunches that day. Our ECPC Pastor Tim and his son Jon also graciously brought two couches, some very nice dish sets, and other household items we were able to find homes for, as well. Additionally, a lady from the ADCC brought a bin of clothes to share.
The big surprise, though, was when we arrived and found a team of ladies from Community Restoration Project (CRP) in our spot we set up at. They had seen us there a month ago and were mentioned briefly in my Blog #9 A Beautiful Day. I love what they do and encourage you to visit their website and pray for God to bless their work. Yesterday, they were at PV not just handing out boxes of food, but boxes of quality food.
We set up next to our CRP friends and with one heart and mind, our collective efforts provided the PV community a beautiful, happy morning in which they saw and felt the love of the Lord while getting some basic needs met. Some even simply enjoyed sitting in the chairs we brought just savoring the community and fellowship. Other PV residents, like Ms. B. and her roommate, helped organize, and T. helped his neighbors carry the food boxes to their apartments. It is a remarkable testimony of our glorious God when His children give to and serve one another. It was nothing short of an amazing time.
Please know that each item donated makes a difference. Yet, it is so rewarding to be the one to give your donation to its recipients and see his or her delight. So, whether you go to ECPC, somewhere else, or nowhere else, I hope you all take the chance to come with us sometime and experience that reward for yourself. You are ALWAYS welcome! We thank you each for your support and prayers!!
And we thank you, Moriah, for being the hard-working, kind-hearted, beautiful young lady you are. Your help was instrumental in the cookout’s success and allowed me to focus on connecting with and encouraging our friends who came by. Dad and I love watching as you grow up to be the woman God created you to be. Thank you for listening to His call to serve with us yesterday.
With heartfelt appreciation to all,
Holly
