People looking through clothing on a table

Robin Good’s Roots.

My husband, Shawn, and I spend Saturday mornings with the Atlanta Dream Center Church visiting some of Atlanta’s underprivileged neighborhoods. While we cannot meet all the needs of those we encounter, we can listen to them, pray with them, ask how we can serve them, and let them know they are not forgotten. We also give out donated items, clean up trash, and visit friends we've made there. The goal is letting people know we care, and ultimately, that God cares about them.

To provide clothing and other items, though, we rely on donations. At times, we do not have any donations, or the ones we have are either out of season, stained, ripped, or damaged, and unworthy to give out. So, I started asking people what they could use and in what size if clothing or linens. Then, the next week, list in hand, I go to thrift stores to find those items, making sure they are nice enough I would buy for my own family or self. And thus, Robin Good was conceived.

You can think of Robin Good as Robin Hood getting the clothes, toys, and household items the rich take to Goodwill and then giving them to the poor. So, while I still collect items on my Saturday list, I am also collecting donated items from those who want to help.
