#13 Just the Two of Us
After a wonderful time of worship at the Atlanta Dream Center Church, Shawn and I headed to PV, our favorite place to spend Saturday mornings. It was just the two of us, but that did not matter. Some of our friends who live there were already waiting for us when we arrived. And thanks to our wonderful East Cobb Presbyterian Church family, we had many donations this week. The cumulative effect of multiple small donations amounted to a good supply of items to bring. Added to that were some things I picked up at a thrift store I stole away to between work meetings Wednesday. Together, it turned out to be a tableful of useful items to share with our PV friends. So, thank you so much my ECPC family members who pitched in!
It was a relatively low-key morning, but we are thankful the Lord held off the rain until the drive home. We were able to have some sweet conversations with friends and encourage them in their life’s journeys. One young girl squealed with delight when she saw the stuffed animal and cute shirt I brought her. She is so precious. I pray the Lord will protect her. Thankfully, He has a couple of his daughters living in that complex who not only help us serve the community, they also care about this girl and her best friend and look out for them. These two ladies are members of the Dream Center Church and do what they can to love this community and share Jesus with them. We are blessed to know and fellowship with them.
I didn’t take any specific requests yesterday, but we are planning a cookout for next week. If you want to help serve hot dogs and hamburgers, please join us! And yes, the volunteers get to eat some, too! We certainly welcome donations of individually packaged chips (the small, individually bagged snack sizes that come in a package of 8 or 10, or however many), plates & napkins, individual water bottles, or other items that go well with burgers and hot dogs. We will still bring donations with us, as well, and welcome those, too, of course!
If you want to come with us, please email me, and you can follow or ride with us. If you wish to donate any items, food or otherwise, let’s plan for me to come get them from you one evening this week or Friday morning, or you can leave them on my patio any day or time. I just prefer not having donations left at church other than on Sunday mornings by the Robin Good sign in the atrium. I am so appreciative of your support and generosity and am perfectly fine with driving to your place to pick up anything you wish to give!
Wishing you a wonderful week!
