#6 A Beautiful Day
What a fantastic time we had today serving our South Atlanta friends pulled chicken and pulled pork sandwiches! It was such an encouragement to the residents of our favorite community!
I was also able to bring a couple of necklaces and bracelets for our sweet friend Ms. H. who loves costume jewelry and dreams of owning a boutique. To see her face light up when I gave them to her was so much fun! And Mr. G., whom I wrote about last week, was the first to stop by our tables. When I greeted him, he said as if so proud to let me know, “I am wearing one of the shirts you gave me!” And he was! A solid gray 4x tank top keeping him cool in the hot sun. And T., who loves to serve alongside us, came by and just jumped in to help make plates of food. That is how he is, though – always wanting to give back!
Our wonderful friends Greg and Joanna, who regularly join us, were there to help us serve and give, as well. Oh, if only you could hear their story of how God rescued them from addiction and life on the streets to now being sharers of the Gospel! And Greg, talented writer he is, just got an article about evangelism as a by-product of worship published in a magazine! To see what God has done in their lives (which they openly share about) is a testimony to His beautiful love and kindness. And to think, we get to share that love and kindness with people each week and see what God may do in their lives, too!
I could go on! It was such a great time! How I wish you would join us! Some weeks, there is only a handful of us, and other weeks, we have many volunteers. But either way, it is a blessing to share God’s love with our friends in the communities we go to, and you are always welcome to come with us! Your donations also help us connect with the people we meet, as well as provide for some of their basic needs. So, thank you so much!
Lastly, we got to see some friends we hadn’t seen in a while in this community and found out their air conditioner has been broken for weeks! So, top of the list for items we’ll bring next week is fans! We also could use men’s casual clothes of all sizes, clothes for girls ages 2 & 5 years, clothes for a boy of 12 years, more costume jewelry, plastic clothes hangers, and non-perishable food. So, if you want to contribute anything, just let me know, and I can pick it up!
Thank you, again, for your support!
