#19 God Always Provides
God gave us a beautiful day at PV yesterday! The weather could not have been nicer! In addition to our daughter, Moriah, and our friends Greg and Joanna, the Lord also provided a bunch of unexpected volunteers by sending the Atlanta Dream Center Church youth group and leaders with us. The youth group took the initiative to knock on doors and let people know we were grilling burgers, which was a great blessing. And to top it off, the residents who are usually waiting for us to arrive were there and ready to help set up. Some of our PV friends we do not see each week even stopped by. It was a wonderful time!
We grilled and gave out 64 hamburgers and about as many hot dogs. Best of all, though, were the great conversations we had with some of our PV friends. One friend shared with me and a couple of others his life story of how he ended up homeless and now at PV. He and his three roommates are all believers, as are several of our friends there. And I admire them so much!
Often, I think about the direction my life could have gone in had God not intervened and all that He has poured into me. The people He put into my life, the husband He gave me who helps me be my best, and all the many ways He has provided resources for me to grow in my walk with Him. And how many times has His grace delivered me from some predicament I got myself into or rescued me from some unwise decision I have made? Then I look at the hardships of my PV friends and how many of them have not had the resources or opportunities I have been given, and yet, they have deep, sustaining faith. It humbles and inspires me. I am genuinely grateful to have each one of them in my life and blessed to call them my friends and brothers and sisters in Christ. Even my PV friends who are not Christians still bless me to know them.
My supplies are low, but I hope to slip away to the Goodwill at some point this week and find some nice fall/winter clothes and useful household items to bring next week. But even if I don’t get a chance to, I know God will provide all we need to bring, or He’ll lead us to just go to different friends’ apartments and visit. Sometimes, that is what is needed most. He always knows. Either way, we are honored to be His servants entrusted to share His love.
